INDIE HORROR VETERANS TO JOIN PRE-PRODUCTION, PRODUCTION, AND LEAD PRACTICAL EFFECTS ON KHEPRI'S UPCOMING FEATURE

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., December 29, 2025—Deadhead Productions, an acclaimed producer of indie horror shorts, will officially co-produce THE END IS TRENDING alongside Khepri Films, taking on critical roles during pre-production and principal photography.

Writer and director Mark Christopher Havenner announced that THE END IS TRENDING's core production team will include Deadhead Productions' Carah Chafin and Devon James, both well-known for their work in the indie horror space and for producing the annual Deadhead Film Festival.

This month, the combined team began shooting the film's official trailer to serve as a proof-of-concept for fundraising and strategic partnerships. Pre-production on the feature is currently underway, and the team is on schedule to begin principal photography in February 2026.

"It's a completely natural partnership," said Havenner. "While I bring commercial production chops to the table, I really needed expert help with running a set, cinematography, and practical special effects. Carah and Devon are an incredible team, and I look forward to bringing this cosmic horror to life with them across the city."

This project marks the second collaboration between the two companies, as Deadhead Productions previously assisted Khepri Films on the production of its debut found-footage short, LISTEN.

COSMIC HORROR TO BRING CTHULHU TO THE TINY SCREEN

LOS ANGELES, December 19, 2025 — Indie studio Khepri Films announced today that it will proceed with the production of its debut feature, THE END IS TRENDING, beginning in early spring 2026. The 90-minute feature film will take place entirely on a fictional social media timeline where the internet accidentally unleashes a cosmic horror into the world.

A satirical psychological thriller, THE END IS TRENDING was written and will be directed by Khepri Films founder Mark Christopher Havenner. It will star Jessica Ferlazzo, Michelle Eklund, and Rico Levitt, along with a host of fictional social media contributors who will appear throughout the movie as a modern-day Greek chorus, commenting on the events of the movie as they play out.

"On the surface THE END IS TRENDING feels like pointed commentary on social media, but really it's an exploration of the importance of human empathy and interaction," said Havenner. "Social media unleashed a literal monster into the world and only social media can send it away."

Production will take place across Los Angeles, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and Hollywood in February 2026, and is expected to wrap by June 2026 for a Fall 2026 release.

LOS ANGELES, October 29, 2025—Former corporate content creator and strategist Mark Christopher Havenner has officially launched the independent production company Khepri Films, marked by the release of the psychological horror short, LISTEN. The film, now available on YouTube, follows the slow unraveling of a scientist as he discovers the horrifying truth of the universe.

Filmed entirely in a one-actor, one-camera found-footage format, the thirty-minute short marks Havenner's entry into the entertainment space as a filmmaker, writer, and actor.

"The idea was really created out of constraints," said Havenner. "I was looking for a deeply rich story I could tell with only the resources available to me—namely my phone and myself. But I needed to build something in a way that would mark the path I want Khepri Films to be known for: gritty stories about messy humans confronting insurmountable challenges."

Khepri Films spun off from Havenner's strategic consulting and production firm, which previously partnered with Renovata on the production of the documentary podcast Gridlocked in 2023.

"This was a natural evolution for Khepri and for me," Havenner added. "I have been a lifelong storyteller, and I wanted to apply what I learned over decades in marketing and corporate production to the creative space where I feel I truly belong."

Khepri Films is slated to take on several projects in the coming months, including a debut feature film that is currently in pre-production and scheduled to roll cameras in the spring of 2026.
