Indie Cosmic Horror Enters Post-Production Ahead of Innovative Summer Release

LOS ANGELES, May 7, 2026 — Independent studio Khepri Films, in partnership with Deadhead Productions, has officially wrapped principal photography on its debut feature film, the cosmic horror THE END IS TRENDING. The milestone marks the completion of the film’s core narrative shoots across Los Angeles, paving the way for post-production and final timeline assembly.

Surrounded by the remnants of practical special effects, fake blood, and scattered gear, writer-director Mark Christopher Havenner called the final wrap for the core cast, which includes Jessica Ferlazzo, Michelle Eklund, and Rico Levitt, alongside cinematographer Carah Chafin and producer Devon James.

Reflecting on the grueling but rewarding indie shoot, Havenner highlighted the deeply collaborative nature of practical filmmaking.

"There is something magical in this act of movie-making. There’s this mysterious alchemy that I only noticed as a writer and director," said Havenner. "The amalgamation of actors, camera and sound operators, and light creates this Philosopher’s Stone in the moment that can never be replicated. The characters drafted on the page become real, their world is real, and I am standing there witnessing the fleeting miracle of a shared consciousness."

With principal photography concluded, Havenner and the Khepri Films team are descending into post-production to honor the cast and crew's work, editing the traditional cinematic footage alongside the vertical "social media" timeline that drives the film's narrative.

As the production shifts gears, Khepri Films announced its upcoming distribution strategy. The studio will begin migrating audience activity to the project's official MY CHANNEL page, which will serve as the primary home for THE END IS TRENDING. The film's story will unfold for audiences in real-time as sequential clips are released over the summer.
